Carriageway Repairs in Churn Close, Old Basing

Further to the below communication, the surface repairs (patching) in localised areas along Churn Close, Old Basing, from Milkingpen Lane to its end were not completed on the planned date of 24th June 2022.

These works have been reprogrammed to be completed on the 17th October 2022 and are expected to take up to 1 day to complete. During this time the road will be closed to traffic from approximately 09:00 to 16:30 hours. The road will be open outside of these hours.

Information signs advising road users of the works will be erected before the start of works and the attached letter will be sent to local residents and businesses.

Whilst there is an allowance within the time periods shown above for delays, there may be times when we have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. We will always look to provide up to date information wherever we can, but sometimes these last minute decisions can be difficult to relay to the travelling public in a timely manner. When we can, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.

As part of the annual programme of works being undertaken by Operation Resilience, we will shortly be undertaking carriageway surface repairs in Churn Close.

This is in preparation for a proposed surface treatment, which if undertaken, will be carried out in a future programme at a later date. There will be a separate notification for this work.

The works are currently programmed to start within the next 3 weeks. Yellow sign boards displaying dates and times will be erected at the works limits. These will be updated as soon as possible in the event of any programme changes.

While the works are carried out, the road will be closed to vehicular traffic. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained wherever possible. Pedestrian access will always be available.

If you need to make a journey during the works, please allow a little extra time. Operatives stationed throughout the site will be happy to assist either by directing you via a diversion, or through the works via the safest route. In order to avoid potential injury or damage, please do not walk across the carriageway during the works unless directed by a member of the workforce.

In order to help us to complete the work as quickly as possible, please ensure that no vehicles are parked on the road on the days of the work. Please be aware any vehicles left parked on the road that prevent the works taking place, face the risk of being removed.

Please be aware that some elements of this work may create a noise disturbance to properties in close proximity to the repairs.

Thank you for your co-operation and if you need more information regarding these works, you can use any of the options below.
