HAMPSHIRE HIGHWAYS - Byfleet Avenue, Old Basing – Footway Improvement Works

Published: 07 October 2020

As part of Operation Resilience, Hampshire County Council’s programme to make Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather and heavy traffic, this notice is to advise of upcoming footway improvement works on Byfleet Avenue, from Linden Avenue to the A30 London Road.

The works are programmed to start Monday 19th October 2020 and are expected to last for 9 weeks, during which time the footway and road will be closed in two phased sections. Firstly from the junction with A30 London Road to Park Avenue, and then from the junction with Park Avenue to Linden Avenue. Works will take place between 07:30 – 18:00hrs, Monday to Friday, with site staff available during the working day to assist with access. The carriageway will be closed as a through route throughout this period including evenings and weekends whilst works are on-going.

The above timescales are weather dependent, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.

In order to help us to complete the work as quickly as possible, please ensure that no vehicles are parked on the road on the days of the works.

For your safety and that of our workforce, we are unable to guarantee vehicular access to and from your property during working hours. Pedestrian access will always be available.

The surfacing operation uses a separate bitumen layer in addition to the new asphalt footway surface. In order to avoid potential injury or damage, please do not walk across the footway during the works unless directed by a member of the workforce.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, works will be carried out ensuring safe working practices, and social distancing between site operatives and members of the public are maintained at all times. The appropriate traffic management will be in place to prevent any interaction.

Thank you for your co-operation and, if you need more information regarding these works, please email roads@hants.gov.uk.
