BASINGSTOKE & DEANE BC - Local Plan Update Issues and Options Consultation

Published: 29 September 2020

Local Plan Update Issues and Options Consultation

Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has a Local Plan to guide development in the borough. This was adopted in 2016 and covers the period 2011 to 2029. The plan covers all types of development, from housing to employment, schools, roads, parks, shops and community facilities.

The Local Plan has been performing well since its adoption four years ago, however, there is a new national requirement for the council to review the Local Plan every five years. The opportunity to update the Local Plan should now be taken to strengthen the Plan and to ensure that local aspirations and needs are met.

The council is now consulting on issues and options for the Local Plan Update. This first stage in the process identifies key planning issues facing the borough (to at least 2038) and considers suitable options to address them. The consultation provides communities with the opportunity to influence the plan at this early stage.

The consultation documents are available to view on the council’s website at: www.basingstoke.gov.uk/Issues-and-Options

The consultation will run from Monday 28 September 2020 until 4pm Monday 9 November 2020. All representations must be received before 4pm on November 9 and will be made available to view publicly.

Representations can be submitted using the council’s online consultation portal, by email or by post.
