B963 Water End Lane, Old Basing - Carriageway Resurfacing

Published: 14 July 2020

As part of Hampshire County Council’s programme to make Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather and heavy traffic, this update is to advise of upcoming carriageway resurfacing works on Water End Lane (including its junction with the A30 London Road) from the A30 for 70m along Water End Lane.

The works are programmed to start on 27 July 2020 and are expected to last for up to 2 nights during which time the road will be closed to vehicular traffic, from approximately 20.00-06.00hrs. The road will be open outside of these hours and at weekends. We are aware of the issues created by night working and will endeavour to keep noise levels reduced whenever possible.

The above timescales are weather dependent, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, works will be carried out ensuring safe working practices, and social distancing between site operatives and members of the public are maintained at all times. The appropriate traffic management will be in place to prevent any interaction.  In order to help us to complete the work as quickly as possible, please ensure that no vehicles are parked on the above road on the days of the resurfacing. Please be aware any vehicles left parked on the road that prevent the works taking place, face the risk of being removed.

For your safety and that of our workforce, we are unable to guarantee vehicular access to and from your property during working hours. Pedestrian access will always be available.

The surfacing operation uses a separate bitumen layer in addition to the new asphalt carriageway surface. In order to avoid potential injury or damage, please do not walk across the carriageway during the works unless directed by a member of the workforce.

Thank you for your co-operation and, if you need more information regarding these works, please email roads@hants.gov.uk
