ANNUAL PARISH COUNCIL AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICES.

Congratulations to Beryl Viner and Irene Allaway on winning this award. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for all their hard work for the local community. Beryl Viner for her work with the Guiding Organisation and the Old Basing Carnival, and Irene Allaway for many years of involvement with the Basinga.  The award will be made at the Annual Parish Meeting held at the Lychpit Village Hall on the 1st April at 8pm

ARMY CADET FORCE

There is an Army Cadet Force detachment that meets in the cadet hut next to the Royal British Legion in Crown Lane on Wednesday evenings from 7 - 9.30pm.  They are looking for young people who are in year 8 or above at school to join them as members.  Training includes military subjects as well as first aid, Duke of Edinburgh Award and adventure training.  This is a voluntary youth organisation that is sponsored by the MOD but there is no obligation to join the armed forces.  They also seek adult leaders who can spare 2 evenings per week and half a dozen weekends a year.  No military experience necessary as full training will be provided.

PEST CONTROL

The Borough Council inform us that they now provide pest control services for those on income support or housing benefit for the removal of rats only, therefore providing a service for those who need to exterminate rats but cannot afford it.  Anyone interested should contact the Borough Council on 844844 or email at pest@basingstoke.gov.uk.

Website update

Since its launch in June 2000, our website, run on behalf of the parish by the parish council, has seen visitors from Zimbabwe, Christmas Island, Peru, Brazil, China and Poland to name just a few.

The site includes information on the parish, its clubs and societies, its facilities and its council. But the time has now come to revamp and update the site and for this we need your help.
* Check the entry for your club and let us know of any change
* We need new pictures, so if you have any of the parish in digital format please email them today
* Is there anything that needs to be added to the site? What information do you seek that isn't among its many pages?

Code of Conduct

Old Basing and Lychpit parish councillors, along with all parish, town, borough, district, unitary and county councillors, are required by Parliament to sign a new code of conduct. Such a code aims to ensure the highest standards of integrity and transparency within public life. The code includes a register of interests which detail councillors personal and financial interest so it will be clear to see when any vested interests are at stake during a council discussion.
