With easy access to the nearby M3 and close to the Basingstoke main line railway station, traveling to Old Basing and Lychpit is simple.

  • Basingstoke town centre (and bus/trains stations) is 10 minutes away by car (40 mins walking, 20 mins cycling).
  • Reading is 35 minutes away by car along the A33.
  • London is approximately an hour away by rail or car (depending on stops or traffic).

By Bus

The main local bus operator is Stagecoach which provides services from Basingstoke bus or railway stations to or through the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit.

By Car

Old Basing is approached via the A30 and/or A33 and is close to Junction 6 of the M3 (London to Southampton motorway) and only 14 miles from Junction 11 of the M4 (London to South Wales motorway).

BY AIR

There are three international airports within an hours car drive from Old Basing (depending on traffic). Due to congestion on the motorways during peak times it is always wise to allow plenty of time for traveling by car. Use Google maps to assess the traffic and to include any additional travel time that may be required.

Heathrow airport is 40 minutes away by car using the M3 (55 minutes using M4). When traveling by car always include additional traveling time to allow for possible congestion on the M25.
